My varkie

Lief vir jou My Varkie en dankie dat jy so ‘n goeie vriendin is 🙂

Eskom Expo for young scientists

Yesterday I had the privilege of judging at the Northern Gauteng Eskom Expo for young scientists. The venue (Sportst Complex of University of Pretoria) is very special to me because it was our national venue when I did Expo in high school. It was also the venue of ESI ’97 where I took part. This hall has many good memories…of doors being opened and of great science! Expo has meant a lot to me in high school and now as an adult I am encouraging my students to take part. We received 4 bronze medals at the Johannesburg Expo. Next year it will (hopefully) be silver or gold. If you would like more info about this great event please visit thier website. It is worth it! image

I have some pictures of my brother and I when we where doing Expo in the ’90’s and I’ll post it as soon as I have his permission. He is a world traveler today and currently in America.

Michelle’s Weekly Pet Challenge: A (not so ordinary) brother and sister

As I’ve said earlier I’m going to focus on my favorite things. So I forgot about the desert for a moment and thought of our two dogs: Nastia and Butch. I have blogged about them earlier. They really are my peace and joy. When I come home they are always happy to see me and they keep me busy afterwards too 🙂 Nastia (grey) is a Husky Boerboel cross and Butch well he was born in South Africa (he he) so he is a proper dog. (Not even the vet knows what he is)

Share Your World – 2014 Week 34

I just came across this blog from CEE. She is asking interesting questions each week. Here are my answers for this week:

What is your favorite smell? What memory does it remind you of?

My favorite smell is the smell of the sea. It reminds me of good times. It also calms me down a lot.

Name a song or two which are included on the soundtrack to your life?

Holy holy by Michael W Smith

Do you play video/computer game?  Which one(s) or most recent? I only play games on my phone and didn’t have the time recently

Which of Snow White’s 7 dwarfs describes you best?  Plus what would the 8th dwarf’s name be? (Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey) Happy

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful that I made it through the week. And I’m looking forward to new adventures this week,
