She was a strong woman that believed in Jesus above all. Ouma was always calm and collected and her Bible was never far from her. It was a real blessing to know my Gran and I’ve written about her elsewhere in this blog. She had a great sense of humor but was firm as well. I have many fond memories of her.
In her old age she had a lot of pain but she never really complained.
When we where small she used to make us “gaatjiebrood” (directly translated it is hole bread) she would take an egg and bake it sunny side up and place it on a piece of bread. She would then make a hole(the size of the yolk) in another slice of bread (usually with a lid of a milk bottle). She would then place it on the egg so that the yellow shows. And there you have it: Gaatjiebrood. This was a real specialty for us grandchildren.
I miss her dearly but I know that she is safe with Jesus.
My mom is a strong woman. She has a beautiful rose garden and she is very very wise. My mom is the kindest person I know and she always listens. My mom taught us right and wrong and she taught us how to forgive. Most of all she taught us about Jesus and the Bible.
My mom always has our best interest at heart. I am grateful to have a mom like mine because there isn’t a better mom on earth.
Life gave her a few hard knocks but she always held on to Jesus and she always found a way to give her best to us.
I love my mom so much and I wish that I can be a woman like her. Steadfast in her Faith and in her beliefs. Firm, strong and kind.
I am blessed with a loving, caring family. My family is different. My family sometimes have strange ideas. I mean my whole family are not even living on the same continent. Everyone in my family wasn’t even born on the same continent.
Do we always agree? No
Do we all have the same ideas? No
Do we love each other always? Yes.
We have been through many ups and downs but at least we had each other through it all. I am truly blessed with a family like mine and wouldn’t swop them for the world!

1 October is finally here! It is our 3 year wedding anniversary and the first blessing that I want to share with you. I am married to an amazing man. We are from different backgrounds and from different parts of the country. (sometimes it feels like we’re from different planets.) But the important thing is that we love Jesus and we love each other. I can’t think what my life would be like without him.
Unfortunately his job entails that he needs to travel a lot but on the positive side I am thankful that he has a job. I miss him a lot when he is on the road. This week is one of those weeks that he is away from home- he is coming home on Friday I can’t wait!
